Key Life Lesson I learnt from the Lightnings exit from the Stanley Cup
Last week I watched in dismay as the Tampa Lightning Ice Hockey Team lost three games in overtime to see them exit the Stanley Cup. For those of you that don’t follow Ice Hockey, when there is a draw, the two teams will continue playing until the next team scores. A sudden death scenario. That occurred 3 times, with Toronto winning all 3, ultimately knocking Tampa out of the Stanley Cup, and leaving this fellow a little sad!
But here is the crux of the matter. As much as it made for exciting hockey, there is something I realized about Ice Hockey that is true in life. Tampa in all 3 matches they lost, had more shots on goal. In fact in one match they almost had twice as many. They looked the better team for a lot of the time. But at the end of the day, what ultimately matters is one stat – the final score.
Its like that in life. It doesn’t matter how many people some into your store to look at clothes, it’s the bottom dollar, how many sales.
And here is one we all need to head to – it doesn’t matter how many times you have sat in church. That wont save you. Its whether you have accepted Christ.
It doesn’t matter how many demons you have expelled, people you have prophesied over, it comes down to one thing – Do you know Him?
“21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day,‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” – Matthew 7:21-23
Wow, what a statement! Lets make sure that the one stat that really matters is the one that counts in your life – Do you know Him?
